minor usability issues with declarative landmarkmap example

There are some usability issues with the declarative landmark map example.

1) The zoom level on the slider on applcation startup does not match the zoom level of the map. i.e. the slider is set about halfway so one would expect the zoom level to be about 9. In reality the zoom level is someonwhere close to 1.
2) When pressing the buttons it is difficult to see if the button is actually pressed or not.
