Strange behavior of Email edit in git commit form

In the Email edit of the git commit form I can neither cut nor paste anything which would leave the address invalid. E. g. cutting "a.b" from "a.b@c.de does not work, pasting "A B" in front does not work either.

This makes some task harder, e.g. pasting the name into the Email edit and then adding the domain.
