Can't debug Qt (controls) project on Android or iOS

Hello,
I opened the Qt example quickcontrols2/gallery
Can build it fine and can run it fine on my android device (all from from Creator GUI). My device ia an (Android 6) Huawei P8 lite.
If however, I try to debug, and set a breakpoint inside the main() in gallery.cpp, then after a long time loading all the libraries etc the app just starts on the device without execution ever stopping at the breakpoint.

I can debug the same device fine with Android Studio. I have the latest version installed (2.2) .

I hav ethad the same experience withz iOS ... can debug fine on device with XCode. Can Build/deploy fine with Creator, but wont stop at breakpoints if I debug with physical device (or simulator)
