      Right now the custom material API only lets you specify a custom fragment shader.  It needs to be possible to also specify a custom vertex shader.  This can get complicated because we need API with a finder granularity of which "built-in" uniforms and attributes are exposed to which parts of the shader pipeline in addition to the custom uniforms specified by the custom material.
