Enginio C++ example: Cloud Address Book: The Add function doesn't work

I created the schema for the example myself and populated it with the three entries shown in the example screenshot. This worked correctly. But when I tried to use the Add function, the text I entered in each field kept disappearing, and the new entries added to the database were empty.
