Dock window size changes

I have a dock window at the bottom of a Main Window.   Regardless of the fact that I save the MainWindow windowState and geometry in my closeEvent() and restore them in showEvent(), the docked window doesn't open next time with the size I set, but some arbitrarily larger size than I want.
